Ben Staten

Ben Staten is a Maryland native who has lived in many different parts of the state before moving to Harford county.
He’s an artist, advocate and social worker. Ben started his career at a nonprofit agency and has worked to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This path led him to become a strong advocate for folks with disabilities and their support systems.
Ben became active in politics after testifying in Annapolis, Maryland, to increase the minimum wage and funding for disability services in the state. He felt it was necessary to engage in local politics to build progressive infrastructure after the 2016 Democratic primaries.
Since then, Ben has become an associate member for the Harford County Democratic Central Committee in addition to being a member of the LGBTQIA+ and People with Disabilities Diversity Leadership Councils for the Maryland Democratic Party.
